Titles: Fiery, Passion, Faded
For this still life, I worked with a heavy theme of red, playing around with how other colors could work with one of the most intense on the color wheel. When I think of red, I think of blood, so I see the neck of the bull and the base of this stool as heavily bleeding. The penguin in front, ignoring the blood, is a symbol for those who can ignore the pain of others. He is different, there is no blood on him, no suffering, so why should he pay attention to those that are suffering? He'd rather not get involved, and I feel like that is one of the hugest problems in the world we live in.

The head is meant to represent a football player, a person surrounded by those that share his talent, ability, and love for the game. Yet still, he is surrounded, the candles representing this fact. He doesn't have the ability to stand out while so much other talent surrounds him, thus he is caged in by walls. All sports are this way, breaking through is incredibly hard, and once you're there you still feel like you're suffocating. This is especially true within the leagues of younger boys and girls. |
Titles: Blurred, Cost Efficient, Bubble Wrapped, 60 Degrees
These three are all representations of a form of chaos, thrown together in such a way that is meant to confuse and make people question why they were grouped together. The Coca-Cola bottle represents something that people can get addicted to, and are thus not in control of it. The thermostat represents the temperature and weather, something we can only take charge of within or own house. And the pens represent the millions trapped in low paying office jobs, unable to escape. All of these are depressing realities of life that we are unable to change, and are forced to endure their consequences. |
Titles: Rainy, Shimmering, Haven, Closure
I'll be completely honest, this one I just sort of threw together. Because of that, it lacks a structured meaning, but I can see similar feelings of chaos and unrest like what I wanted to portray in the pictures prior. I can also see feelings of order, the Windex and the pine candle having similar colors in contrast to that of the bright orange pumpkin pie candle. You could also interpret it as presenting you with nature, and the thing created from nature's destruction. Any of them would make sense. |
Titles: Childhood, Innocence, To Infinity, Past Unrest
These photos are meant to represent childhood, innocence, and everything that entails. From the turtle made by myself in childhood, the front flippers broken off from age, to bracelets that no longer fit anyone in my family, it is a telltale sign of childhood. Even the base everything sits on is a relic from my younger years. I feel like I theme a lot of stuff based off childhood, but it's one of the things that really gets me going creatively. I hope you don't mind that. |
